Moon Tides

This is a song I wrote a long time ago and which I put on the soundtrack CD/companion piece to the Up in the Bronx book (Both availble via this blog, see Up in the Bronx page above). Sometimes I’ve called this song “Good and Evil Side by Side”, as those are the opening lyrics – and one of the great paradoxes of life I would say. The lyrics

Good and Evil side by side

Fill up all the lanes on the superhighway.

You drive your truck as fast you can

Into the night til you make it home.

Moon Tides over the waters

Moon Tides over the waters

Police siren in the night

Wakes you up and you throw off the blanket

Baby stirs so gently in her sleep

Says to you: Baby what’s the matter

I said it’s Moon Tides over the waters

Moon Tides over the waters

Now I got a woman and she’s good as gold

Together we’re gonna walk that highway

It don’t matter if it’s wind or cold

Outside a cloud blows across the moon

Moon Tides over the waters

Moon Tides over the waters

Talkin in the here and now

Talkin in the everpresent

We just keep on walking somehow

Into the night til we make it home

Moon Tides over the waters

Moon Tides over the waters

  1. Wow! You’re a Renaissance man! That sounds like such a prosaic, easy comment, but it’s an accurate reflection of my first impressions upon reading/hearing this. Good show, man!
