Fighting A Losing Battle But Having a Lot of Fun Trying to Win is one of my very favorite songs. And I hope you enjoy it too. Written by the great Brownie Mc Gee it has a marvelous lyric, an exquisite tune, an interesting blues progression …. and, well I’ve always enjoyed singing it, so here it is.
You know it’s hard to love another man’s girlfriend
Can’t see her when you want to
Gotta see her when you can
I may be fighting a losing battle but having a lot of fun trying to win
I thought it over these two points of view
You know a one-way lovin just ain’t no good for two
I may be fighting a losing battle but having a lot of fun trying to win
I watch the sun come up and I watch it fade away
All I ever seem to have are these sleepless nights and endless days
I asked my woman: should I go away?
Your man wants me to leave, do you want me to stay?
I may be fighting a losing battle but having a lot of fun trying to win
Here’s the song with Maybank joining in.
I remember seeing Brownie back in the sixties along with Sonny Terry. Nice one. My favourite is Sitting On Top Of the World. They did a great version.
I saw them several times. They were my favorites. I’ve done Sitting On Top of the World a few times on the blog. Maybe I’ll do it again. I have the right photo.

Thank you for visiting. Check out Brownie Mc Gee and Sonny Terry, my idols/favorites. I have a number of Brownie’s songs on the blog. You mentioned aspirations on your blog. Well, to play those songs well would be on the bucket (the before I kick the bucket) list.
🙂 will do! Have a great one!
🙂
greetings to the bird in your background!
You’re right. There must have been a bird outside the window. Of course, the bird was a Brownie McGee and a Sonny Terry fan.
