The great Chuck Berry passed away the other day and we mourn his passing, but salute his majesty as a musician. He was the Prince of Rock n Roll, the guitarist everybody copied. Much has been said about his great influence as a founder of Rock n Roll. Truly, Chuck Berry was one of the greats. He did things his way and along the way he somehow forged the blues into a sell-able product that defined an era. His songs are wonderfully vibrant and fun – albeit very difficult to play. They’re just fun, that’s how he wrote ’em. So thank you Chuck. Naturally, Maybank and myself tried a Chuck Berry song this week – just like thousands upon thousands of amateur and professional guitarists and rock n roll wannabes have been doing for years. Hail Hail Rock and Roll, and Hail Hail Chuck Berry!
