Independence from the British! Don't you remember? Back in 1776?

The who? The British? What? All I know is that it’s been 25,000 years already and I’m still stuck in this mud.
Certainly your observations, your self-perceptions and overall assessment of the cement elephant’s social status are largely correct, dear Horatio. All the same, you have to admit that the fireworks are pretty cool.

    1. Ah, those plastocene, not cement, elephant are models of Columbian mammoths, and greet the visitors at the
      La Brea Tar Pits in mid-city Los Angeles. I confess to calling them cement elephants and pachydermal pillars of wisdom in all those Cement Elephant posts. But the site and museum are unparalleled and fascinating places. We have found more than 4 million ice age fossils and we’re still digging.
