2021 is here. Happy New Year. I guess it’s because of the proud tradition of getting stupid drunk on New Year’s Eve that on the morning after or thereabouts people begin to make those pitiful New Years resolutions. I don’t understand it. You’d think that by now they would have learned not to torture themselves so much. I mean, we all make the same New Year’s resolutions every year. the same ones. You know, lose weight, exercise more, read the 20 greatest books ever written, blah, blah, blah. I never went for it. I don’t make no resolutions.
Continuing in the spirit of irresolution, here’s a song that’s not only irresolute, it’s downright dissolute. It’s Hank Williams Jr.’ s Whiskey Bound, sung by Maybank and Bumba sometime last year.
Like I was saying, it’s never very good to be taking yourself too seriously. You’re not the center of the world anywaze. A little humility, please.
There are things a lot bigger than ourselves, and when our consciousnesses are directed toward things larger than ourselves, we are enriched. So here’s to Country Music and Beethoven too. Here’s to Duke Ellington and Albert Einstein while we’re at it.
You seem very resolute. i hope your year is a good one. I am determined to read and write but as that’s not a resolution as such but a way to keep sane, I see it more as life support.
Yup:
Norbury…
Cheers!
Happy New Year, Dawn!
Same to you Bumba
Some much-needed New Year perspective.

Enjoy sloppy laidback blues, thanks for the tunes.
Very welcome. Sloppy comes easily.
